What this is — and who it's for

3 min read

Atlas teaches the language. Nexus makes it personal. Observatory gives you the instruments.

Cosmolytic

If you do readings for people, you know the drill. You've got astro.com open in one tab, a PDF cheat sheet somewhere on your desktop, three different apps for different things, and you're still copying birth data by hand between all of them.

That's not a workflow. That's duct tape.

What Observatory Is

Observatory is a set of professional-grade tools built for people who actually practice. Tarot readers who want to weave astrology into their sessions. Astrologers who need a modern chart calculator that doesn't look like it was designed in 2003. Content creators who need accurate transit data for their posts without buying a $49 planetary calendar on Etsy.

Everything runs in your browser. We use the same astronomical algorithms NASA uses to track spacecraft — applied to astrology. Your client's birth data never touches our servers. It never leaves your device. That's not a marketing line, it's the architecture.

Who This Is For

You don't need to be a professional astrologer. If you pull tarot cards and want to know which planet rules The Tower so you can check what's happening there right now — this is for you. If you make astrology content and need to know what's actually going on in the sky today without copying from someone else — this is for you. If you've been doing charts for twenty years and you're tired of clunky software — also for you.

Three audiences, one toolset. The tools are designed so someone with zero astrology training can open them and get value immediately, while someone with deep knowledge finds them the most precise instruments they've ever used.

Why It's Free

Because we need you to use it. When a tarot reader with 10,000 followers tells her clients "go check your chart on Cosmolytic," those clients land on our site. They see our readings, our atlas, our content. That's the deal — you get the best tools on the web, your audience discovers us. Non-competing. Symbiotic.

No account. No email capture. No signup wall. Just open a tool and use it. Trust first.

What's Different

Most astrology tools are either dumbed down (horoscope apps that tell you nothing useful) or stuck in the past (software that hasn't been redesigned since dial-up). Observatory is neither. It's modern, precise, and built for how practitioners actually work — quick reference during sessions, accurate data for content, clean outputs you're not embarrassed to show clients.

Every entity name in the tools links to its Atlas deep-dive page. See "Mercury" in a chart? Click it, learn everything about Mercury. The tools and the knowledge base are connected. You're never more than one click away from understanding what you're looking at.

Straight answers. No fluff.

Questions you probably have

Anyone who does astrology or tarot for others — or wants to. Solo astrologers, tarot readers adding astrology to their practice, spiritual content creators, Etsy reading sellers, astrology students going professional. If you've got 5 clients or 50,000 followers, these tools are built for your workflow.

Not at all. The correspondence tables are designed so a tarot reader with zero astrology training can look up which planet rules which card in two seconds. The daily sky tool tells you what's happening in plain language. The deeper tools (chart calculator, transits) show more data for people who want it, but everything has plain-language labels alongside the technical stuff.

It's actually free. No trial period, no feature limits, no 'upgrade to see your results.' The tools run in your browser using real astronomical calculations. We don't store anything. The model works because practitioners who use our tools recommend Cosmolytic to their clients — and those clients discover our paid readings. You get tools, we get visibility. Everyone wins.

No. Zero signup, zero email, zero friction. Open a tool, use it, close it. Later we'll add optional accounts for people who want to save charts and client data — but the core tools will always work without one.

We use the Swiss Ephemeris — the same astronomical dataset used by NASA and professional observatories. Planetary positions are calculated to arc-minute precision. This isn't a lookup table or approximation. It's the real math, running in your browser.

Yes, by architecture, not just by policy. All calculations happen in your browser. Birth data never leaves your device. We literally cannot see it — there's no server call to intercept. When you close the tab, the data is gone. No database, no logs, no analytics on personal information.

Astro.com is a brilliant resource that hasn't been meaningfully redesigned in twenty years. Observatory is built for how practitioners actually work in 2025: mobile-first, instant results, clean visual output, plain-language labels alongside technical data. Same astronomical precision, modern experience. And every entity links to an in-depth Atlas page — something no other calculator does.

That's exactly what they're built for. The correspondence tables are designed to be open in a tab during readings — quick lookups, not deep dives. The chart calculator gives you clean, organized data you can glance at while talking. Everything loads instantly because it runs locally.

Very. Every Major Arcana card maps to a planet or zodiac sign. Every suit maps to an element. Court cards map to element combinations. The correspondence tables show you all of this at a glance — so when The Tower comes up, you can check what Mars is doing right now and weave that into your reading. It's the bridge between tarot and astrology that most readers are looking for.

The daily sky tool tells you what's happening today in a format you can riff on for content. No more copying from other creators or buying monthly transit calendars. The data is real, it's free, and it's updated by actual astronomical calculations — not someone's interpretation of someone else's interpretation.

We're rolling out tools phase by phase. The correspondence tables — tarot-to-astrology mappings, planet and sign quick-references — are live now. The daily sky dashboard, cosmic calendar, chart calculator, transit overlay, and synastry grid are coming. Each one ships when it's ready, not before.

Eventually, yes. The free tools will always be free. Paid features will be things like saved charts, client management, session scheduling, PDF exports with your branding — business infrastructure for practitioners who want to run their practice through Observatory. But that's later. Right now it's all free, no strings.

The chart calculator supports Placidus, Whole Sign, Koch, Equal, Campanus, Regiomontanus, and Porphyry. Switchable in one click. Most tools default to Placidus since that's what the majority of Western astrologers use, but we don't force a system on you.

Yes. The Swiss Ephemeris covers thousands of years of planetary data. You can calculate charts for historical dates, future dates, or anything in between. The same precision applies regardless of the date.

Yes. Everything is designed mobile-first. The correspondence tables transform into scannable card layouts on small screens. Charts and tables are touch-friendly. You can have Observatory open on your phone during an in-person reading without fumbling with pinch-zoom on a desktop layout.

Every entity mentioned in an Observatory tool — every planet, sign, house, aspect, tarot card — links to its Atlas deep-dive page. Observatory gives you the data. Atlas gives you the understanding. They're designed as two layers of the same system. Use the tools, click through when you want depth.

Western tropical astrology. That's the system most commonly used in Europe and the Americas, and it's what our Atlas content covers. Vedic (sidereal) astrology uses different zodiac calculations — we don't currently support it, but the astronomical data would allow it in the future.

Not yet, but it's on the roadmap. Embeddable widgets — a mini chart calculator for your bio link, a daily transit snippet for your website — are part of the future paid tier. When they ship, they'll say 'Powered by Cosmolytic' and drive traffic both ways.
